Custody limits extension

The charity, Just for Kids Law (JFKL) is collating examples from barristers of cases involving children affected by the extension to custody time limits in September

Following correspondence from JFKL, The Howard League and Liberty, the Ministry of Justice published an impact assessment accepting the extension had a disproportionate impact on children and BAME (black, Asian and minority ethnic) defendants but justifying this by the backlog of cases in the courts.

JFKL is now collecting data for the purpose of a judicial review challenge. Email examples to KarolinaRychlicka@justforkidslaw.org or joannec@gclaw.co.uk.
