Firm makes new corporate partner hire
Business and private wealth law firm Druces LLP has hired partner David Smith from Fasken Martineau’s London office. In his new role at Druces, David will contribute to the further development of the firm’s corporate practice with a particular emphasis on the life sciences and alternative energy sectors.
David’s client work at Druces will focus on capital markets, capital raising and mergers and acquisitions for a client base that includes entrepreneurial growing companies in both the public and private sphere. He joins Druces with 35 years of experience.
David’s recent work includes acting for an early-stage company with a potentially ground-breaking green solution to the UK’s short term power generation needs and a new venture being established to acquire interests in US oil and gas assets. He has also assisted in a US IPO and on NASDAQ listings in the life sciences sector and advised on a fundraising for a stem-cell research company.
Toby Stroh, head of corporate, says: “David’s hire marks an important next step for the firm and the corporate department in particular. His expertise spans a number of sectors with a particular focus on life sciences and alternative energy. His work fits very well with our existing specialisms.”
Managing partner, Jeremy Dutton, comments: “We have made a number of strategic lateral hires recently and, with further recruits set to be announced in the coming months, the firm is making a significant commitment to deepening the level of expertise available to clients.”
David comments: “I am excited to have joined Druces and am looking forward to complementing its existing impressive client portfolio with my particular expertise in life sciences and energy businesses. Druces’ corporate team is very well respected and my practice area, focusing on corporate finance and M&A for both public and private clients, will align well with the expertise and support already in place at the firm.”
