*Partner copy* Drug, Alcohol & DNA testing that gives back

Rachel Davenport, Co-founder and Director at AlphaBiolabs, discusses the company’s commitment to giving back to communities across the UK.

For over 20 years we’ve provided accredited Drug, Alcohol and DNA testing services for family law professionals and local authorities across the country, delivering evidence to support critical decisions - often including safeguarding matters and care proceedings.

But our commitment to excellence doesn’t end with laboratory testing. Behind every instruction lies a story – often involving families in crisis or children at risk. It is our deeper understanding of these background circumstances that has inspired our wider commitment to supporting the communities in which we work.

Measurable impact, meaningful change

Since the introduction of the Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012, public sector suppliers have been increasingly called upon to demonstrate how their work delivers tangible benefits to local communities.

For AlphaBiolabs, this commitment to social value is embedded not just in policy, but in practice.

In recent years, we’ve donated over £60k to charitable causes via our Giving Back campaign and, throughout 2025, we’re continuing to reward causes close to our customers’ hearts.

For every instruction we receive for court-admissible Drug, Alcohol or DNA testing, we enter the name of the customer into a bi-monthly prize draw. The winning customer then chooses a charity to receive a £500 donation from AlphaBiolabs, allowing us to channel our successes into frontline support for the people and causes who need it most.

Here’s what two of our customers’ nominated charities had to say about donations received via Giving Back:

“We rely on donations such as this to ensure we can continue to help women, children and teens impacted by domestic abuse.”

– Paula Clarke, Deputy CEO at Juno Women’s Aid

“Contributions like this enable us to continue the vital work we do, and facilitate the delivery of our specialist training sessions.”

– Julie Doyle, Chair of Child Concern

Our fundraising also extends to internal initiatives. In 2024, we introduced a monthly employee charity draw, giving staff the opportunity to direct company donations to causes local to AlphaBiolabs, including youth mental health charity YPAS (Merseyside) and KIND, which provides vital support for disadvantaged children across Liverpool.

We also ramped up our community outreach at Christmas, with toy donations to Mission Christmas: Cash for Kids, monetary and food donations to Trussell food banks across the UK, and a donation to Comfort Cases, a charity providing backpacks of essential items to children entering the care system.

Social value and family law

We’ve always believed that our responsibility as a testing laboratory goes beyond providing fast, accurate, and accredited testing services.

Each test we conduct has a human story behind it, whether it’s a child’s future, a family in crisis, or a parent working hard to rebuild trust.

That’s why social value isn’t just something we talk about – it’s something we live and breathe. When you instruct us, you’re not just choosing a laboratory with exceptional testing standards. You’re choosing a testing partner that cares about the outcome of your case, and the positive social impact we can achieve together.

Our New Enquiry team are always available to provide support and advice specific to the requirements of your particular case, and our Price Promise means we will also beat any like-for-like quote by a further 10%. Plus, your instruction may result in a donation of £500 to your chosen charity via our next Giving Back draw!
