Data protection & information governance specialist joins Excello Law in Cardiff

Commercial lawyer Jon Belcher, who specialises in data protection and information governance, has joined national firm Excello Law from his previous role at Blake Morgan LLP.

Based in Cardiff, Jon qualified in 2012 and advises a range of private sector companies as well as governmental, regulatory and other public bodies on data protection compliance including drafting privacy notices, handling complex subject access requests, dealing with significant data breaches and carrying out data protection audits.

In addition, Jon has wide experience of drafting commercial agreements, with a specific focus on data sharing and processing arrangements and data transfers. Prior to retraining in law, Jon spent three years working at the Information Commissioner’s Office, where he was a senior complaints officer.

On joining the firm, Jon commented: “It’s really important to me that my work is enjoyable, rewarding and interesting. I’ve been very impressed with Excello’s values and the firm’s commitment to supporting lawyers. I’m also looking forward to being able to work more flexibly, which is a core principle of Excello’s agile business model.”

Joanne Losty, director at Excello Law, said: “We are spearheading a significant recruitment drive across the country as more and more experienced lawyers value the freedom and flexibility the consultant lawyer model delivers.  Jon joins a rapidly expanding national team at Excello and we’re delighted to welcome him to the firm.”
