Expert witness instruction guidance issued
The Civil Justice Council has published revised guidance on the instruction of experts in civil claims. It aims to offer litigants, experts and those instructing experts guidance on compliance with Pt 35 of the Civil Procedure Rules. It covers the appointment of experts, instruction, written questions, attendance at court, duties and obligations, and the difference between instructing an expert to report and asking an expert to advise. The CJC last published guidance on these issues in 2005.
