Fletchers Group—Kate Edwards

Firm appoints director of private client and Court of Protection

Kate Edwards has been appointed director of private client and Court of Protection at Fletchers Group.

Edwards is an experienced professional deputy and trustee with a specialist interest in property and affair litigation in the Court of Protection. She joins Fletchers Group from Simpson Millar, where she was partner.

Reporting to Chief Legal Officer Adrian Denson, Edwards will manage a team of 13 and has a brief 'to transform the PC and CoP team and bring it onto the same high-performance footing as the Medical Negligence and Personal Injury divisions within the Group.'

Commenting on her new role, Edwards says: 'Following a number of acquisitions within the Group, in particular Leeds-based Minton Morrill last year, my immediate task is to knit the Private Client and Court of Protection function into a cohesive whole and position it for accelerated growth.

'I am aiming to double the earnings of the team within the next two years, and scale up through a combination of organic and inorganic growth.

'I have inherited an excellent pipeline of work, as well as a team of dedicated and enthusiastic people, and by uniting under a single management structure, I am confident we can deliver the same outperformance that we’ve seen in the Medical Negligence and Personal Injury teams.'

Adrian Denson says: 'I’m delighted to welcome Kate to the Group. She is a high calibre individual with an impressive track record and it’s a testament to our growing reputation that we’re able to attract her to the business. Kate will play a key role in transforming the division, accelerating growth in this critical element within our overall proposition, and providing our clients with more choice.'

Prior to Fletchers and Simpson Millar, Kate worked in senior roles at Wrigleys, Slater and Gordon, Pannone and Gorvins.
