Two furniture manufacturers who operated an illegal cartel have been fined a total of £2.8m, following an investigation by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). Thomas Armstrong (Timber) and Hoffman Thornwood admitted breaking competition law by agreeing not to compete on price and sharing out which customers they would supply. Another manufacturer, BHK (UK) confessed its involvement but will not be fined after agreeing to cooperate with the CMA and comply with other conditions of the CMA’s leniency policy.
