Head of Italian desk at Seddons appointed president of BILA
Seddons has announced that renowned dispute resolution lawyer and head of its Italian desk, Germana Lo Iacono-Smith, has been elected as president of the British Italian Law Association (BILA).
Germana, an Italian national who is bilingual and qualified as English solicitor, was voted into the position by the members of the association’s committee at their annual general meeting in February.
BILA’s members are mainly English solicitors and barristers (and some judges) and Italian avvocati with an interest in the laws and culture of both Italy and England. Germana replaces the outgoing President Rocco Franco whose five year term in office had come to an end.
Germana says: “I am honoured to have been voted into this position by my peers, and I hope that during my presidency I will be able to use my experience of working in both the UK and Italy to ensure that the association goes from strength to strength. I am determined that our events, which are well–regarded by both Italian and English lawyers alike, continue to flourish and reflect the importance of working in the international marketplace.”
