Gherson appoints ex-Skadden lawyer to head the civil litigation and arbitration team

London-based independent law firm Gherson Solicitors LLP (Gherson) has recruited former Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom (UK) LLP (Skadden) disputes lawyer Ross Rymkiewicz as head of the firm’s civil litigation and arbitration practice.

Specialising in complex disputes and strategy, both for corporate clients and individuals, Ross has extensive experience in advising on significant and widely reported cases in the English High Court, Court of Appeal, the UK Supreme Court, as well as across a range of international arbitration fora.

An expert in English civil law, court practice, and procedure, Ross also brings with him real insight into the workings of international arbitration.  With significant expertise in complex shareholder disputes, worldwide freezing orders, and jurisdictional issues, Ross’ sectoral expertise is broad: he has represented clients in disputes covering matters ranging from property holdings to cryptocurrency.

Ross joins Gherson full-time early next year (9 January 2023) but continues to work on an ad hoc basis until then, a position he has held since November 2022.

Commenting on Ross’ appointment, senior partner Roger Gherson said: 'Ross joins us to head our civil litigation and arbitration practice.  He has garnered significant expertise from his time at one of the largest US law firms, and we look forward to expanding our firm’s civil disputes capabilities with him at the helm.'

On his appointment, Ross Rymkiewicz added: 'I am very excited to be joining full-time Gherson in the New Year.  Having already worked with the team on an ad hoc basis, I feel this move is the right one for me.  I am particularly looking forward to growing the firm’s capabilities in civil Court and arbitration disputes, and putting a great team together.'
