Lord Thomas, the Lord Chief Justice, has introduced the Global Law Summit (memorably described as “the Davos of where law meets business”) to mark the 800th anniversary of the sealing of Magna Carta. Lord Thomas said some of the issues raised by the principles of the rule of law and access to justice were “very uncomfortable not merely to governments but to others such as corporations with immense economic power”. However, the task required commitment and any “obstruction must be fought against and removed”.
