Franchising specialist joins firm

Gurmeet Jakhu, a specialist lawyer with more than 15 years’ experience in franchising litigation, has joined the Derbyshire office of Knights.

Gurmeet joins the expanding litigation team and brings extensive experience and knowledge of franchising and licensing to the firm including; dispute resolution, construction and interpretation of franchise agreements and franchise-related contractual documentation, IP rights and termination rights.

He has lectured at numerous international and national conferences and is a published author on the topic. As well as boosting the Knights’ team, which currently deals with commercial and non-contentious franchising, he will be helping to grow the current offering.

Gurmeet says: “I’m looking forward to using my franchise expertise for the benefit of both regional and national clients.

“The litigation service is already extremely strong and with my background and experience I will be able to further expand Knights’ highly regarded franchising offering.”

Knights’ CEO David Beech says: “We’re delighted to have Gurmeet join our growing team, he is bringing a very niche area of expertise to the firm which will really enhance our litigation offering and fits well with our strategic plans. Having lectured on behalf of the World Intellectual Property Organisation and the British Franchise Organisation I am confident he will be a very strong asset to Knights.

“His appointment is one of many we are making to grow our team in the Midlands and enhance the services available to clients.
