Four lateral hires
Hamlins has announced the arrival of three new lateral hires—Amanda Burge, Charles Bezzant and Fionnuala Lynch—in addition to Andrew Stephenson who recently joined from Carter Ruck. The four lateral hires take partner/consultant numbers to 28, an increase of almost 20%.
Amanda joins from Enyo Law as a partner in the firm’s dispute resolution team. She previously worked at Holman Fenwick Willan and Reynolds Porter Chamberlain, and has almost 20 years’ experience advising on a wide range of commercial disputes, including professional negligence cases, construction and engineering, insurance and reinsurance, property, IT and insolvency.
Charles joins Hamlins from Reed Smith and specialises in real estate finance, covering investment and development finance. He has acted on all manner of acquisitions, developments, disposals, sales and leasebacks, and all aspects of property investment management.
Fionnuala, who joins from Cubism Law, will add a new tax specialism to Hamlins’ corporate practice, enabling the firm to provide clients with a full service offering on corporate and real estate transactions. She has been providing tax advice to corporates, multinationals, financial institutions and individuals for over 15 years. Before joining Cubism Law as a consultant in September 2012, she spent six years working as counsel in the tax group at Reed Smith.
Media lawyer Andrew joined Hamlins in December as a senior consultant in the firm’s burgeoning media department. His recent successes include acting for the former armed forces minister, Adam Ingram, in his libel claim against The Sunday Times and for the then Prime Minister of Uganda, Amama Mbabazi, against the Daily Mail.
Commenting on the lateral hires, managing partner Nigel Mason says: “Our strategy of focusing on our core areas of strength has paid off over the past few years, despite the commercial market suffering from the effects of the recession. These are tactical hires to specifically strengthen and compliment key areas of our practice. The fact that leading lawyers like Amanda, Fionnuala, Charles and Andrew choose to join Hamlins is a testament to the strength of our client base and the opportunities we can provide to grow business.
“These are really exciting times for Hamlins, we have never been more focused or confident about the quality of our team and the excellent advice we are able to provide to our clients.”
