IPOD LAWS

In brief

Listening to an iPod while crossing the street could be made an offence in the US. Carl Kruger, a member of the New York state Senate, has introduced a draft law that would punish such an act with a $100 (£51) fine. Listening to music on the street has proved fatal for three Brooklyn residents in recent months. Mr Kruger’s Distracted Walking Bill, which has not yet been debated but is likely to be hotly contested by civil rights groups, would extend to mobile phones, Blackberry devices and MP3 players.
