Irwin Mitchell has added to its HNW and international tax team in London with the appointment of partner, Matthew Briggs. Matthew joins from boutique private client practice, The Burnside Partnership, and specialises in personal tax, estate and succession planning for UK and international individuals and families.

He has a particular interest in advising owner-managed and family-owned businesses on tax, succession, governance and capacity issues as well as assisting with philanthropic planning.

Matthew, who has previously worked in leading international law firms, has considerable experience in multi-jurisdictional wealth structuring, international tax and trusts and global estate planning for high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth families.

Commenting on his new role, Matthew said: 'I’m excited to join the international team at Irwin Mitchell during a period of continuing growth.

'The firm has a strong reputation and is well-placed to offer market-leading advice to high-net-worth, ultra-high-net-worth and business owner clients both in the UK and overseas.  I am looking forward to adding to the team’s existing private wealth capabilities and charity expertise.'

Paula Myers, director of private client legal services at Irwin Mitchell, said: 'We are delighted to have Matthew join our team. He is a highly experienced lawyer with expertise that will complement and enhance our existing service offering to clients, particularly in the international space, where our lawyers help clients with their personal and business needs in over 200 countries worldwide.'
