Partner for insurance team in London
Bond Dickinson has appointed Jonathan Drake as a partner for its commercial insurance team based in London. Jonathan's expertise in regulatory and corporate/commercial law adds to the strong non-contentious offering the firm is building for its insurer clients, as well as for its increasing stable of clients involved in the financial services industry.
Jonathan will be working to further develop the firm’s work in areas such as solvency capital requirements, corporate restructuring, cross-border regulation and products advice. He brings market-leading expertise in distribution agreements and insurance programme reviews including advising on the regulatory status and sale of new insurance products across multi-national jurisdictions.
Jonathan joins the firm from Clausen Miller and was previously a partner at Ashurst in their financial institutions group. He has also worked as general counsel in the London insurance and reinsurance market.
John Marshall, sector head of insurance at Bond Dickinson, says: "We are delighted that Jon has joined us and look forward to working with him. Jon joins us at an exciting time as we are gaining real traction in our commercial/corporate practice across the insurance industry. We are fortunate to have an exceptional insurance claims team here at Bond Dickinson and see the growth of our non-contentious lines as a natural progression. Jon will play an important role here."
Jonathan says: “The marketplace for legal services to the insurance industry is constantly evolving to accommodate the changing nature of insurance regulations both UK and international with initiatives such as Flood Re and Solvency II. That makes it exciting and a great area to be involved in. I look forward to working with John and the team at Bond Dickinson and share their enthusiasm and commitment to support what matters most to our clients in this sector.”
