Jonathan Goacher—Kennedys

Corporate insurance expert joins Singapore office

Kennedys has grown its corporate insurance expertise by appointing Jonathan Goacher to its Singapore office.

Jonathan qualified in the US before moving to Thailand and working in Asia for over ten years both in-house and in private practice.  A corporate and regulatory lawyer, he has a particular focus on insurance and advises a client base of global insurers, large corporates and insurance brokerages.

Jonathan, who joins from DLA Piper as counsel, handles mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, business start-ups, reorganisations, disposals and liquidations across south-east Asia. He also advises clients on regulatory issues such as licensing, notification and consent requirements, foreign business restrictions and compliance.

Julian Wallace, joint managing partner of Kennedys Legal Solutions in Singapore, says: “There are excellent opportunities in Asia at the moment, with strong economic growth, the prospect of an Asian Economic Community and both Thailand and India liberalising foreign ownership in the insurance sector. Jonathan has many years’ experience working on insurance matters in the Asian market and his expertise will be attractive to those clients seeking multi-jurisdictional advice on corporate and regulatory matters.”
