Virtual law firm promotes tax and commercial litigator to partner

Jurit LLP has promoted Alex Peebles to partner, less than 19 months on from his appointment to the London-based firm.

Alex joined Jurit in 2021 from Newcastle-based Duncan Lewis Solicitors, together with Helen Cummings—a solicitor specialising in tax and commercial litigation—to establish the firm’s contentious tax practice.

An experienced tax law and commercial litigator, Alex represents clients in tax disputes with HMRC in the tax tribunal and higher courts and in commercial matters related to taxation.

Speaking of his appointment, Robert Marcus, senior partner at Jurit, commented: 'We are pleased to welcome Alex into the Jurit partnership. His experience and skills enhance the strategic overlap of the commercial and individual parts of our business, allowing us to fulfil our aim to look after both our clients and their businesses.'

Jeremy Glover, head of tax at Jurit, added: 'Since Alex and Helen joined the firm, our tax practice has grown significantly, representing a broad range of clients in a variety of tax disputes with HMRC.”

Alex’s promotion comes at a time of rapid expansion for Jurit, following the acquisition of private client practice PWT Advice in 2021, which dovetails with the firm’s contentious tax practice.

Concluding, Alex said: 'I’m delighted to have joined the Jurit partnership and look forward to continuing our work to grow Jurit’s contentious tax practice, working alongside our commercial and private client colleagues, as we further enhance our legal offering to clients.'

Jurit, a virtual law firm headquartered in London, now has nine partners and 21 consultant solicitors, including one Solicitor-Avocat (Barreau de Paris) and six legal consultants.

The team spans seventeen practice areas, delivering agile, responsive and flexible legal services for businesses and private individuals globally.
