Katten Muchin Rosenman—Charlotte Hill

Katten strengthens financial markets and funds group in London

Katten Muchin Rosenman UK LLP has announced that Charlotte Hill has joined the firm’s Financial Markets and Regulation practice as a partner in London, strengthening the firm’s growing presence there. Hill joins Katten from Charles Russell Speechlys, where she provided international regulatory counsel on fintech and other financial services matters for a vast range of clients including fintech and crypto firms, investment and asset managers, investment platforms, crowdfunding platforms, payment services providers, e-money issuers and banks.

“Charlotte’s practice and client base reflect the breadth and complexity of modern financial services regulation,” said Daniel Davis, co-chair of Katten’s Financial Markets and Regulation practice. “Her arrival not only strengthens our robust regulatory capabilities but also reflects the firm’s commitment to deliver comprehensive cross-border client counsel.”

Hill advises global conglomerates managing cross-border regulatory strategy to specialist boutiques navigating market entry for the first time. Her practice encompasses ongoing regulatory advisory work, transactional regulatory support and strategic counsel on new product development and market entry. She has depth in the regulatory frameworks governing payment services and e-money businesses. She has advised extensively on the rules applicable to crowdfunding platforms and crypto businesses, including digital currencies, crypto assets, blockchain technology and NFTs.

“We’re delighted to welcome Charlotte at a time of targeted growth in London,” said Christopher Hitchins, London Managing Partner. “Her years of experience with the frameworks administered by various UK regulators including the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA), as well as EU directives and regulations that continue to shape cross-border financial services, will strengthen our already very established capabilities.”

At a prior firm, Hill served as head of the Financial Services Regulation and FinTech group. Recently, she was shortlisted in the Woman of the Year – FinTech/Crypto category of Citywealth’s International Powerwomen Awards. Hill is also a thought leader, regularly offering commentary and analysis on regulatory developments related to financial markets, digital assets and cryptocurrency.

Led by Davis and Partner Carl Kennedy, Katten’s Financial Markets and Regulation practice advises clients on matters regarding cryptocurrency, digital assets and blockchain technology, as well as counsels them on regulatory, compliance, transactional and enforcement-related issues. Lance Zinman, global chair of the Financial Markets and Funds department, oversees the industry-leading practice.
