New associate appointed in Nelsons’ commercial property team
Leicester law firm Nelsons Solicitors has broadened the scope of its commercial property offering with the appointment of planning solicitor Kylie Chapman.
Kylie, who joins Nelsons as an associate, has extensive local authority experience and brings a new skills set to the firm’s rapidly expanding commercial property team with her specialist planning knowledge - which covers a wide range of issues from planning appeals to planning enforcement.
Kylie joins Nelsons from Leicester City Council where she worked as lead planning lawyer for more than four years. Prior to this she worked at Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council, having previously trained at Leicester-based specialist planning law firm Marrons.
Kylie said: “I’m delighted to have joined such a thriving and enthusiastic team. I was attracted to this role at Nelsons because it offered me the chance to establish planning law as a new string to the firm’s bow, which is a really exciting challenge.
“My experience is wide ranging in that I have worked across all aspects of planning, including section 106 agreements, planning policy, enforcement, and planning appeals, including advocacy at public inquiries.
“Nelsons’ clients, particularly developers, will be able to benefit from my local authority knowledge and the fact that I have in depth experience of how council planning processes work.”
Partner and head of Nelsons’ commercial property team James Coningsby added: “Kylie’s expertise really stood out and we were impressed by her enthusiasm and passion for her work.
“She brings a new element of experience to our team which we know will benefit both our new and our existing clients.”
