Senior associate appointed to the family team

London law firm Laurus has announced that Jeetesh Patel has joined the family team as a senior associate. Jeetesh will be based in the firm’s Farringdon office.

Jeetesh has specialised exclusively in matrimonial and related family matters since qualifying as a solicitor in 2001. He was previously with Hodge Jones & Allen LLP.

As well as advising husbands, wives, non-married couples and same sex couples on relationship breakdown, Jeetesh has developed a specialism in inter-country adoption and international surrogacy. He is experienced in obtaining successful outcomes for clients whose foreign adoptions are not automatically recognised under the Hague Convention and he has also helped parents obtain recognition of foreign surrogacy arrangements in this country.

Jeetesh has also developed expertise in advising international clients on complex and often high value cases. Being of South Asian descent, Jeetesh has represented many individuals from various South Asian communities. He understands the cultural implications of divorcing, separating and other family related matters within these communities and has developed a leading reputation for matrimonial and related family work in these communities.

Jeetesh is an accredited member of Resolution, the high profile family law group which champions a non-confrontational approach to family law. He is also a trained Collaborative Lawyer.

Commenting on his appointment, Jeetesh said: ‘I am delighted to join the family team at Laurus and look forward to developing my practice particularly in the areas of international adoption and surrogacy.’

Steven Gasser, partner and head of the family team said: ‘As a team, we are proud to have built up a reputation for our non-adversarial approach to family law matters which tends to work in the best interests of all the parties involved. It is important that any recruit shares our values so Jeetesh was a natural choice. We are very pleased to welcome Jeetesh to Laurus.’
