Law firms to report on financial sanctions

Law firms have been required by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) to take part in a sanctions assessment.

Firms must provide responses between 2 and 31 May to a questionnaire outlining how they comply with the UK’s current sanctions regime. The requirement applies to all SRA-regulated firms who were not previously required to provide a return as part of the SRA’s 2022 anti-money laundering information exercise.

The SRA will email each firm’s compliance officer for legal practice (COLP) or authorised signatory in May with further instructions.
