LNB NEWS: CCRC refers Post Office case due to concerns about Horizon computer system

The Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC) has reported that it has referred its 64th Post Office case, the case of Amer Hussain, to the Crown Court due to concerns about the Horizon computer system.

Lexis®Library update: The CCRC has said Hussain was previously a Post Office Clerk and applied directly to the CCRC in January 2021 to review his case as he previously pleaded guilty at Bristol magistrates’ court to eight counts of theft and therefore could not appeal to the Crown Court. After this guilty plea, Hussain was sentenced to a Community Punishment and Curfew Order and was ordered to pay compensation of £6,746.85.

The CCRC has said it has written to the BEIS (Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy) Parliamentary Select Committee on its outreach work this year to help identify those who might have been affected by the Horizon scandal and is continuing to reach out to former Post Office workers and their families who may need help.
