The Courts and Tribunals Judiciary has published a speech by the Master of the Rolls, Sir Geoffrey Vos, in relation to driving system change and addressing injustice, delivered during the Ombudsman Association conference on 21 June 2023.

Lexis® update: The speech considers the transition from court-based systems to a two-tier holistic digital justice system governed by the new Online Procedure Rules Committee (OPRC). The objective is to resolve disputes quickly and affordably, with consideration for the economic and psychological costs of unresolved cases.

The speech also addresses the creation of an SME portal to resolve disputes without court intervention. Sir Geoffrey Vos assures that the aim of these recommendations is not to hinder ombuds services but to provide coherence, integration, and greater accessibility.
