LNB NEWS: HMCTS publishes MoJ Overarching Evaluation progress report

HM Courts and Tribunal Service (HMCTS) has published a progress report which provides an update on the Ministry of Justice’s overarching evaluation of the HMCTS reform programme.

Lexis®Library update: The HMCTS reform programme aims to modernise the justice system by bringing modern technology and new ways of working to the courts and tribunals system. Reformed services include new online channels such as Online Civil Money Claims. The MoJ has been carrying out an evaluation of the reform programme which HMCTS say will help assess the effects of the programme.

The progress report sets out the development of the Overarching Evaluation, the rationale for the theory-based approach being taken by the MoJ, challenges in evaluating HMCTs reform programme, and the evidence sources that will be drawn on in the evaluation.  HMCTS confirm one of the evidence sources will be research investigating specific reform projects. Several project-level evaluations have been completed to date, including the ‘online civil money claims: opt-out mediation evaluation’.
