The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has issued new guidance containing information on the pre-sentence report pilot in 15 magistrates’ courts.

Lexis®Library update: The pilot was launched on 22 March 2021 and is intended to ‘evaluate whether this alternative approach will improve offender outcomes, Judicial confidence and the administration of justice’. It was rolled out in four phases over eight weeks and is currently live in all 15 magistrates’ courts. Early insights from the pilot will be collected after six months, with a fuller evaluation to take place after 12 months.
