Lucy Philps-Tate & Sophie Fretten—Duncan Lewis

Firm appoints new directors

Duncan Lewis has announced the appointments of Lucy Philps-Tate and Sophie Fretten as public law and family and childcare directors respectively.

Lucy practices in the Duncan Lewis Harrow branch and Sophie practices from the firm’s Shepherds Bush office.

Joining Duncan Lewis in 2008, Lucy practices a broad range of public law and immigration work specialising particularly in judicial review applications. She has a significant practice in representing a wide variety of clients, including vulnerable clients, minors, women who have been subjected to FGM (female genital mutilation), the mentally ill, and those who have been trafficked.

Sophie, who also joined Duncan Lewis in 2008, has extensive experience in both public and private children work and is recognised as a member of the Law Society Childrens Panel. She undertakes both private and public childcare law work and undertakes most of her own advocacy. Sophie represents parents in private law cases including contact and residence disputes and domestic violence matters. Sophie also represents parents in public law proceedings including care proceedings, adoption, applications to discharge care orders and to revoke placement orders. Sophie has also represented guardians (including grandparents and aunts) in respect of both private and public law family matters.
