Construction & engineering disputes partner appointed
Bevan Brittan has appointed Marie-Claire O’Hara as a partner in its construction and engineering disputes team, based in the firm’s London office. Marie-Claire joins from Nabarro LLP.
Marie-Claire is an employed barrister with extensive experience in the construction, engineering and energy fields. After completing pupillage at Keating Chambers, Marie-Claire moved on to Masons (now Pinsent Masons) and from there to Nabarro where she was a senior associate.
As well as construction and development, her experience encompasses disputes in the energy sector (including offshore wind, CHP and solar) and the infrastructure sector (including waste, highways and water), involving a spectrum of small scale to complex multi-million pound disputes.
She also has keen interest in and experience of e-disclosure and the use of IT in litigation and arbitration. She is a member of the TeCSA working group which developed an e-disclosure protocol for use in the Technology and Construction Courts, and is a member of the Society of Construction Law.
Marie-Claire’s appointment takes Bevan Brittan’s construction and engineering team to 4 partners, part of a 16 partner-strong Commercial and Infrastructure practice.
Andrew Tobin, head of commercial and infrastructure at Bevan Brittan, says: “We are delighted that Marie-Claire is joining us. We have seen a steady increase in construction and projects disputes over the last couple of years. In light of the current climate in public services, particularly rationalisation and budget reductions, this trend looks set to continue. Having someone of Marie-Claire’s experience on board extends our ability to meet rising demand.”
