Mayo Wynne Baxter has appointed solicitors Belinda Mercer and Rohit Walia to its employment team as the firm continues to expand its employment law offering. The hires are aimed at strengthening support for clients facing increasingly complex workplace and workforce issues.
Mercer returns to employment law after several years in the wine trade, having previously worked as an in-house employment lawyer advising organisations ranging from local authorities to multinational businesses. She advises on settlement agreements, dismissals, grievances and discrimination matters, and said she was drawn to the firm by ‘the strength and reputation of its employment team’.
Walia joins with experience across employment law, civil litigation and personal injury. He advises employers on disciplinary and grievance matters, redundancy, restructuring and TUPE issues, as well as employment tribunal proceedings. He said he was ‘delighted’ to join a firm with ‘a genuinely collaborative culture’ and a focus on ‘clear, practical advice’.
Nicola Brown, partner and head of employment at Mayo Wynne Baxter, said Mercer and Walia are ‘strong additions to the team’ and will further strengthen the firm’s ability to support clients ‘across the full spectrum of employment law’.
