Former Lord Chancellor Brandon Lewis unveiled the foundation stone last week at the construction site in Salisbury Square, by Fleet Street.
There will be 18 hearing rooms, consisting of eight Crown, six civil and four magistrates’ courtrooms. The site will also host the headquarters of the City of London Police. The court complex will be kitted out with the latest technology, as well as clean energy use, with a heating and cooling system provided by 300-metre-deep thermal piles to store summer heat for reuse in winter.
