New justice of the Supreme Court

News in brief

Sir Anthony Clarke, the Master of the Rolls, is to become the first justice to be appointed direct to the Supreme Court. Sir Anthony, who was called to the Bar in 1965 and took silk in 1979, takes up his position on 1 October 2009, when the Supreme Court is launched.
