Professor Dominic Regan is surprised on a visit to the Royal Courts of Justice, in this week’s NLJ. It seems there is no escape from screens these days. Regan, of City Law School, pops into Court 13.

He also touches on ‘the hot topic of the moment’—motor finance commission litigation—as well as catching up on the latest trends in chambers with an old friend in Manchester.

Regan ponders the role of judges and wonders if they might sometimes like to move faster. He proposes that judges, like NLJ columnists, be given deadlines to ‘concentrate the mind’. Might this work as an incentive?
