Firm announces appointment of new managing partners
Norton Rose Fulbright has confirmed Charles Hurdon and Martin Scott as new managing partners of Norton Rose Fulbright Canada LLP and Norton Rose Fulbright LLP, respectively. Charles and Martin will take up their new roles with effect from 1 January 2015 for a period of three years.
Charles, managing partner of Ottawa and head of employment and labour for Canada, will succeed current managing partner John Coleman. Martin, global head of corporate, M&A and securities, will succeed current managing partner Peter Martyr, who will continue as global chief executive of Norton Rose Fulbright for a further three year period from 1 January 2015.
Charles says: “It’s a very exciting time to be in this role. We have grown tremendously as Norton Rose Fulbright in Canada in the past several years as a legal practice and with our clients. This growth will continue as Canadian companies keep expanding their reach globally and even more international businesses invest here. We have a very bright future ahead of us and I look forward to building on our success.”
Martin says: “Following on from Peter and all he has done to transform our business will be a challenging task, but I am looking forward to continuing his legacy of investment in our clients and our people. With Peter in the role of global chief executive, I will, of course, have the benefit of his guidance as well as that of an effective management team. The Europe, Middle East and Asian economies are mature and very competitive markets and there are many challenges ahead to adapt our business to the changing needs of our clients. We are committed to a growth strategy across these regions and my priority will be to deliver this growth rapidly and effectively and in alignment with Norton Rose Fulbright’s global plan."
Peter says: “I am delighted to be working with Charles and Martin for the next three years as part of the Norton Rose Fulbright global leadership team. We have made great strides in the development of our global platform. There is much still to accomplish and I look forward to the continued growth of the business with the talented team we have."
