Parabis creates travel law centre of excellence
Travel law specialists from across Parabis Law LLP have been drawn into a single practice division under the leadership of the highly-experienced travel lawyer, Michael Gwilliam. The move is part of ongoing restructuring within Parabis to create centres of legal excellence and to seamlessly integrate all travel experience across the group.
The travel team is now located in Leeds and London and will develop with Michael as practice head, and Julian Morris as operating partner.
The team comprises 25 lawyers with experience of handling all aspects of travel law including injury and quality-related claims together with contractual and commercial matters on behalf of the travel industry. Recent instructions include sickness outbreaks, hurricanes, group outbreaks on vessels and coach crashes overseas.
Michael has more than 25 years’ travel law experience acting primarily for insurers, tour operators, travel agents, accommodation suppliers, airlines and airports. He is heavily involved in jurisdictional issues and is recognised for his experience in defending multi-party and group actions against tour operators. He has a strong reputation for handling claims involving catastrophic loss and fatalities.
Julian, who has 15 years’ experience, combines travel law expertise with defendant personal injury work much of which is focused on tour operator claims (injury and multi-party, multi-jurisdictional claims). He is also a qualified doctor who has worked in NHS general practice in a medical and management capacity and served with the Royal Army Medical Corps during the Gulf War and sits as an assistant coroner.
