Pay ratios on display

As of the first financial year after 1 January 2019, UK quoted companies with more than 250 employees will have to calculate and publish the pay ratios between their CEO and average employees, under the Companies (Miscellaneous Reporting) Regulations 2018. This means the first reports will appear in 2020. Alongside their directors’ remuneration report, companies will need to publish the ratio of their CEO’s total remuneration to the median (50th), 25th and 75th percentile full-time equivalent remuneration of their UK employees. They must include supporting information, for example, any reasons for changes to the ratios.
