Thousands of victims of government data loss are unnecessarily forking out cash for packs which they are being told will help them claim compensation, says Dr Chris Pounder, privacy specialist at Pinsent Masons. He says any information that might be needed to make a claim under the Data Protection Act 1998 is already available free.
