President Smithers

Kent solicitor and senior partner of CooperBurnett solicitors, Jonathan Smithers, has taken office as the 171st president of the Law Society. In his inaugural speech, Smithers highlighted three priorities: championing the role of the profession in protecting the rule of law; protecting fairness and highlighting the importance of access to justice; and solicitors’ expertise in conveyancing and land law.

Robert Bourns, senior partner of TLT solicitors, is the new vice president, and Joe Egan of Joe Egan solicitors has been elected deputy vice president.
