In brief
Prisoners that fail to commit to and deliver against their sentence plans will face further penalties under a pilot scheme being run in three prisons and one probation area. Prisoners will be asked to commit to offender compacts which will be used to assess their progress. Those inmates that deliver against the targets set will be rewarded with advantages. In addition, those prisoners serving sentences of less than 12 months will be made subject to an “end of custody report” that will recognise engagement in constructive activity and will be given to prospective employers on release.
