The term, “apprenticeship” is to be protected in law through the Enterprise Bill, which is due to be introduced in Parliament in the autumn, according to solicitors Simons Muirhead & Burton. This will give the government the power to take action when the term is misused to promote low quality courses. The government’s commitment to create three million apprenticeships by 2020 will also be enshrined in law, and public bodies will be set targets for creating apprenticeships.
