Litigation firm welcomes partner

Litigation firm Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan LLP has announced the appointment of Paul Baker as a partner in the London office.

Formerly the UK head of dispute resolution at Simmons & Simmons, Paul focuses on financial disputes and investigations, with a particular emphasis on contentious asset management work. In addition, he provides specialist reputation management advice, including on defamation, malicious falsehood and harassment, to global organisations in relation to their online and print media strategies. Paul is admitted as a barrister and solicitor in New Zealand.

John B. Quinn, founder of Quinn Emanuel, said: ‘Paul is another impressive addition to the London office which will grow substantially again this year on the back of a spectacular 2020.  He comes with a stellar reputation for winning major financial disputes and investigations and is a great fit with our existing London practice and client base.’

Ted Greeno and Alex Gerbi, co-managing partners of the London office, said: ‘We are very pleased that Paul will be joining us in London. He has a tremendous track record in complex financial disputes and his deep knowledge of, and connections in, the asset management sector in particular will complement our substantial existing practice in that space. With his talent, energy and ambition, we are sure that Paul will flourish at Quinn Emanuel and help us further to grow our London practice. We hope that he will be the first in a number of significant hires for us in London this year.’

Paul added: ‘The strength of the brand, the quality of the cases and the team, and the driving ambition of the firm means the opportunity to join is compelling and incredibly exciting.  It will provide a platform for me to advise clients, particularly funds, with conflict-free representation, and my hope is that the reputation management experience I bring will provide additional and distinct support to clients in a volatile market.’
