Rahman to face SDT

Lutfur Rahman, the former mayor of Tower Hamlets and a solicitor, is to appear before the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal, the Solicitors Regulation Authority has confirmed. Rahman faces several allegations including that he failed to uphold the rule of law and proper administration of justice, failed to act with integrity and failed to behave in a way that maintains the trust the public places in him.

The allegations are as yet unproven. Rahman’s election as mayor was declared void last year after he was found guilty of illegal and corrupt practices by election commissioner Richard Mawrey QC in the High Court
