Refugee protection

Refugees’ spouses could be given the same protection as spouses of British citizens and settled persons, under the Domestic Violence Concession (DVC), the Scottish Court of Session has held in A v Secretary of State for the Home Department. Lynn Welsh, head of legal at the Equality and Human Rights Commission Scotland, which intervened, says: “We welcome today’s decision and encourage the Home Office to review the policy carefully in terms of its impact on victims of domestic violence from different countries.”
