Reports to the Bar Standards Board on the rise

The number of barristers reported to the Bar Standards Board (BSB) increased 17% from 1,885 to 2,199 last year (2021-2022), according to the BSB annual report, published last week. 

There was also a rise in the number of barristers subject to a disciplinary finding following a disciplinary tribunal—22 compared to four in the previous year. Seven barristers were suspended (compared to nine in the previous year) and six were disbarred (four in the previous year).

BSB chair Kathryn Stone paid tribute to BSB employees for their hard work during the COVID-19 pandemic.
