Edmonds Marshall McMahon expands into civil fraud with new appointment
Edmonds Marshall McMahon, has announced the firm’s expansion into civil fraud with the appointment of City litigator Robert Hunter who joins as a Partner from Herbert Smith Freehills where he was Head of the Fraud and Asset Tracing Group.
Robert has over 25 years’ experience in the field of civil fraud and trust litigation. He is a highly respected Solicitor Advocate, and has been noted in the Chambers guide as the star practitioner in the area for many years.
Tamlyn Edmonds, Co-founder and Partner at Edmonds Marshall McMahon, commented: “The decision to expand into civil fraud is a significant strategic decision in Edmonds Marshall McMahon’s development, complementing the unique services we already offer our clients and creating the only niche firm of this kind in the UK. Robert’s appointment is the first important step in this expansion and his formidable reputation as one of the most renowned civil litigators matches with the market leading status Edmonds Marshall McMahon has established for private prosecutions. Whenever there is a victim of fraud there is the potential for a civil as well as criminal action to be brought. Offering both specialist services under the same roof will be of huge benefit to our clients.”
Robert Hunter said of his appointment: “Edmonds Marshall McMahon is a unique concentration of private prosecution expertise and I look forward to achieving some excellent results for our clients. The firm already has something of a ‘giant killer’ reputation.”
Tamlyn Edmonds commented further: “The rapid rise in online fraud and the sustained pressure on Government enforcement agencies due to cuts – particularly those dealing with financial crime – means that this trend is only likely to continue. Being able to offer civil fraud capabilities in addition to private prosecutions for these complex financial frauds is essential to meet the needs of our clients.”
