Ruth Markham & Jo Anderson—BHP Law

Two promotions at north east firm

Two solicitors have been promoted at north east law firm BHP Law.

Ruth Markham, who has 10 years' experience handling complex, multi-million pound personal injury cases, has been made a partner.

A highly respected specialist in her field, Ruth typically works on high value cases,  including life changing catastrophic injuries, employers' and public liability claims, clinical negligence and criminal injury compensation claims.

One of her recent successes involved her taking on a case in which the claimant who suffered catastrophic brain damage after being harmed as a baby was awarded £7m compensation.

Ruth, who comes from Sunderland and worked for national law firms in the north east after qualifying in 2005, joined BHP Law last year.

Jo Anderson, who joined the firm's growing conveyancing team in 2014, has been appointed to an associate position.

Jo, who started her career in matrimonial law before specialising in conveyancing, is based at the firm's Teesside office at Preston Farm, Stockton.

BHP Law's managing partner John Pratt says: "Since Ruth and Jo joined us our conveyancing and personal injury departments have seen exponential growth and they have each played a central role in managing the increased workload.

"Their expertise and dedication deserves reward and I am delighted that they have accepted their new positions of responsibility."
