Sanction Threat

News In Brief

Claims by the Legal Complaints Service (LCS) that it is exceeding targets and delivering improved levels of performance have been overshadowed by the threat of sanctions by the Legal Services Complaints Commissioner, Zahida Manzoor. Manzoor branded the Law Society’s complaints handling plan for 2008–09 as inadequate and says its submissions for securing effective and efficient complaints handling are defective. The commissioner can impose a maximum fine of £1m or 1% of turnover.
