Former Lord Justice to lecture at The Honorable Society of Grays Inn
Sir Alan Moses, former Lord Justice of the Court of Appeal, and recipient of Legal Personality of the Year Award at the recent Halsbury Legal Awards 2014, will be the lecturer at the Annual Tom Bingham Lecture on Wednesday 19 November at The Honorable Society of Grays Inn. Sir Alan recently retired from the Court of Appeal, where he was an influential force for the rule of law and is now the Chair of the Independent Press Standards Organisation (IPSO). He has chosen as his topic the issue of how judges should respond to the media. And do the press peddle legal myths or realities? Given his previous and current roles, no-one could be more qualified to consider the role of judges in communicating with the public, in correcting misinformation, or in responding to outright attacks.
The event, organised by the Bingham Centre (recipient of the Special Rule of Law Award at the Halsbury Legal Awards), will be chaired by former High Court judge Sir Nicholas Stadlen and is sponsored by Fountain Court Chambers. The lecture will be followed by a drinks reception
This event is free to attend. To register please email binghamcentre@biicl.org.
