Judge retires on grounds of ill health
Sir Nicholas Wall is to retire as the president of the Family Division and head of family justice for England and Wales on 1 December 2012 on grounds of ill health, following a prestigious career.
Sir Nicholas was called to the Bar in 1969, appointed a family judge in the high court in 1993, and appointed President of the Family Division in 2010. He is a supporter of no-fault divorce, and served on the Whitehall advisory group recommending no-fault divorce in the Family Law Act 1996.
