The timetable for the proposed Solicitors Qualifying Exam has been delayed following “considerable opposition” from universities and academic groups. Opponents felt they needed more detail or questioned whether the current system needed to be replaced. The Solicitors Regulation Authority originally planned to make a decision this month on principle and then consult on detail. However, it will not now make a final decision until spring 2017. The first possible start date would be 2019/2020.
