Law firm Speechly Bircham took first place in Standard Chartered Great City Race.
The legal sector was the best represented in this year’s race with 96 firms having entered a team.
The men’s event saw a new winner with Speechly Bircham’s Chris Busaileh crossing the line first in a lightning fast time of 15 minutes and 35 seconds. Ben Shearer of Standard Chartered Bank finshed in second place in 15 minutes 48 seconds and Paul Halford of Athletics Weekly came in third place in 15 minutes 48 seconds.
It was a familiar story in the women’s race with Emily Wicks of Punter Southall capturing the women’s title for the third year in a row in a time of 16 minutes 50 seconds, with Lara Bromilow of HSBC in second place in 17 minutes 50 seconds and Azmera Gebrezgi of Kinetic Partners LLP third in 18 minutes 26 seconds.
Celebrating her victory Emily said, “The race is my favourite event of the year: it’s always got a great crowd and atmosphere. I’m delighted to have won my third title here and definitely looking forward to coming back again next year to try for a fourth!’
The race, which is in its seventh year and proving more popular than ever before having sold out a record two months early, was once again raising funds and awareness for Seeing is Believing, a global initiative that tackles avoidable blindness.
