Leading trust litigator joins contentious trust & succession group

Withers has added to its contentious trust & succession group with the hire of Steven Kempster.  Steven joins as a partner from Taylor Wessing, where he was head of the firm’s contentious trusts & estates team.

Withers’ partner Dawn Goodman says: “Steven is well-known for his expertise and successes in contentious trust work, and has advised clients from around the world on complex matters for 15 years.  His experience and leadership skills will be a real asset to the team.”

Steven comments: “Withers has been synonymous with managing the most demanding trusts and succession disputes ever since Dawn established the team in 1989. The team has led the market from then to now.  I am delighted to be joining the practice and working with its first rate lawyers around the world.”

Recent highlights of Steven’s cases in the public domain include: acting in the first instance and Court of Appeal case of Slutsker v Haron (2013) and representing beneficiaries in hostile Bermuda proceedings in Re A Trust (2012).  Steven is an editor of the Oxford University Press publication International Trust Disputes, first published in 2011, and he lectures frequently in all regions of the world on the successful resolution of family trust disputes.
